I Found A Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Comic Cover From 1988!
...It's not really a cover from 1988.
But I wanted the drawing to have the artistic of a late 80s/early 90s comic book cover. A sort of "McFarlane" type attention to uber detail.
I hope it worked.
To achieve the worn-out look to the color cover I printed the ink on cardstock.
The inks were done on 14inx17in Bristol board.

TREEHOUSE OF HORROR
“HERE’S A STORY THAT’S REALLY SCARIFYING!”
So, I’m late by a couple of days. I was suppose to finish
this by Halloween, but with four 14in x 17in sheets filled with over 50
drawings I couldn’t quite make the date… but, better late than never.
I love the “Simpsons’ Halloween Specials.” They were a
yearly anticipation as a kid. Heck, when
I was a young lad I use to cut “treat or trickin’” short so I could watch the
reruns. And since I wanted to make a drawing to honor the holiday I thought of
nothing better than the “Simpsons’ Treehouse of Horror.”
Feast your eyes, all elements from seasons 2-11 of “Treehouse
of Horror” are represented. Only because
I own the DVDs to seasons 1 – 11.
Also, I would like to dedicate this art to the memory of Marica
Wallace, who recently passed away. Unfortunately, I could fit in Ms. Crabapple
into the poster. Nevertheless, I wanted to thank her in some way for the many
years of laughter.
The art was done on 28in x 34in Strathmore Bristol board
with ink, Bic and Prismacolor markers, and color pencils.
“Wait a minute! There is still more space dust on here!”

MIGHT SOLVE A MYSTERY...
The prize I received from Capcom, a "DuckTales: Remastered" Press Kit!
I won the prize by entering a DuckTales art contest where the guidelines were to either draw in the Ducktales characters into the box art of a Capcom video game, or “duckify” a character from a Capcom game.
I sorta did both.
The art was done on 13in X 17in Bristol Board with Sharpies, Prismacolor markers, and color pencils.
I would like to thank Capcom for holding the contest and for choosing my work out of the many submissions they received.
Now if you can excuse me, but I have to dig up my old NES and play some good ol' fashion Ducktales!
WOO-HOO!!!

Little Louie: the Dream Master
This is an entry to a contest Capcom is holding for the new
DuckTales game, “DuckTales: Remastered.”
The guidelines is to either draw in the Ducktales characters
into the box art of a Capcom video game, or “duckify” a character from a Capcom
game.
I sorta did both.
I chose a box art from an old 80’s Nintendo game from Capcom
that I was always very fond of, “Little Nemo: The Dream Master.”
The box art expresses sheer imagination. I loved it since I was
a kid, and wanted to “recreate” it one day. I finally got my chance with an
added “DuckTales” favor to the piece—which—Is always fun to draw in whenever I get
a chance.
The art was done on 13in X 17in Bristol Board with Sharpies,
Prismacolor markers, and color pencils.

ROAST HIM!
"Nobody steps on a church in my town!"
This is done on two 11in x 14in Bristol sheets with black sharpies.
Sort of a stencil/street art style I was trying for. I used two sheets of Bristol because, for one, I thought it would be impressive and two, I wanted to keep the wide screen/cinematic view to attain the screen shot quality.
This is a companion piece to go with "It's The Stay Puft Marshmallow Man." http://dannynicholas.blogspot.com/2012/11/theres-something-you-dont-see-everyday.html
"This Mr. Stay Puft is okay. He's a sailor; in New York. We get this guy laid, we won't have any trouble!"

I Want You To Do Me A Favor . . .
INK VERSION
ROUGH VERSION
REFERENCE
I think I feel a series of drawings brewing? Calvin and Hobbes in scenes from "Fight Club!"
Suffice to indicate, this is a spoiler to the 14yrs old film, “Fight Club” (holy cow, has it been that long?).
The idea of this drawing came simply:
1)Calvin and Hobbes is an endearing comic strip about a boy who gets into all kind of madcap adventures with his stuff tiger toy, Hobbes; who is also his imagery friend.
2)Fight Club is a generational defining film (and novel), about a normal man (a button-down, Oxford-cloth psycho) who get into all kind of madcap adventures (if you want to call it that?) with Tyler Durden. Later, the normal man discovers near the end that Tyler was his imagery friend.
Do we see the similarities, everyone?
And being a big fan of both materials, I thought it would be a bit of fun to cross them over. Also, there is always amusement in combining kid friendly material with rate R entertainment, check out my Simpsons/Clockwork Orange crossover to see what I mean.
Author note: A lot of respect to Bill Watterson, he is a tremendous and inspirational artist. If you haven’t read “Calvin and Hobbes,” I strongly suggest for you to check out his work.
