RIP CHRISTOPHER LEE

What a wonderful actor. It will be hard to imagine the world without him.

I'm still holding out hope that he will rise from the grave soon.

All he needs are a few drops of blood.

I'm prepared to donate some...

FIRE AND BLOOD

In honor of the new season of GAME OF THRONES.

Much like the Mother of Dragons this painting rose from the fire too. It was narrowly a complete disaster.

When I’m finished a piece of artwork I usually spray a bit of “Krylon Matte Finish” over the painting. Naturally, I did so here, but, after lightly spaying, a hazy cloudy coat suddenly appeared over the painting. I thought it would go away after it dried. It didn’t. So, I sprayed a heavier coat; it got worst.

I thought it was unsalvageable. Out of desperation I sprayed some “Krylon Workable Fixatif.” It cleared up much of the haze, but unfortunately, a lot of the color pencil detail has seemed to have melted away.

However, I’m happy I saved as much as I could.

This painting is a real Targaryen, she walked out the flames unburned.

GAME OF STONES

“Ice age in coming,”
A bit of explanation:
I was working on a recent commission where the clients wanted a poster featuring “Flintstones-esque” characters. I worked on it while watching the latest season of “Game of Thrones;” and I thought wouldn’t it be funny to have some Flintstones characters dressed as characters from “A Song of Ice and Fire.” The idea was so funny I couldn’t resist forgetting about, and drew this up after finishing the commission.
I hope everyone as a good laugh as I did painting these things up.

“IT’S ONLY FOREVER, NOT LONG AT ALL”

ONE OF US ALWAYS LIES by DannyNicholas

I’m on a magical quest to make a Labyrinth painting that I am happy with!

Also, this little exercise tracks how much growth I’ve had as an artist; to essentially, see if I’m any good at this at all.

So, I obsessively redrawing things I thought was lacking at the time, and make side-by-side comparisons all for the sake of learning.

As for this painting, I’m overall happy with it.  However, I think I missed the mark on the portrait.

This means, sometime in the future, I will make another one.

O SMAUG THE TREMENDOUS

“Very well, O Barrel-rider.”

Well, after seeing all of “the Hobbit” movies, I can say I generally enjoyed the series if films.

Yes, I agree with some of the shortcomings that are widely criticized. But there are so truly neat moments.

For one, Peter Jackson nailed the memorable scenes from the book that I could recall from the book. Bilbo Baggins, the intro to the dwarves, the Goblin King, Riddles in the Dark, and Smaug!!!

It’s just the stuff that is in between that are a little rickety.

However, I delighted in sitting through the journey, there and back again.
